Hi, I'm getting prepared for the imminent update release. I'm a sole P3D5 user so have yet to get my hands on it. Is there somewhere I can download or get hold of a comprehensive manual that also includes normal checklists, non-normal checklists, emergency procedures etc.? Tags: None. From my knowledge, PMDG stopped issuing crew manuals with their products. You could give the tutorial a try. Comment Post Cancel. Ben, you may give Google a challenge.

Most of you seem to be more book smart than I am. Some of my peers will burn me at the stake for it, others will find it normal. It's a recurring theme that pilots don't need to rebuild the airplane from the ground up anymore.
My head is filled with operational knowledge, flows, callouts, procedures. Which countries like things a certain way, where to meet the ground handlers to get to the aircraft, which custom agents are dicks, where I can find KCM portals, etc. Which airplanes have espresso machines, which ones have the extra closet, which mechanics are cool, which coworkers are dicks, which check airman to watch for and their particular points of attack.
Basically everything the flight sim crowd knows nothing of or cares about. Being a pilot is times more involved than what you can get from a flight sim. How can you even remotely achieve the dream of being as real as you can get it with your sims without other crew members? Flows are divided between areas of control, PM, PF, when I call for something, it triggers the other guy to do something. Standardization is hugely important. The art of briefing your crew members is important as well, wish it wasn't, I suck at it.
As a CA, book knowledge allows you to shut up an insubordinate FO who questions what you do because you can reference a source and have a valid reason for doing it. Book knowledge will protect you when you have to explain your actions to the company. We do this in order to keep conversations personal and familiar.
